UL-Lafayette recognizes outstanding grads

Eight students selected as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association’s outstanding graduates for the fall semester will be recognized during 11 a.m. commencement ceremonies Friday at the Cajundome.

The students are nominated by their respective deans based on leadership, scholarship and service. An overall outstanding graduate is selected by an Alumni Association committee and honored during the 11 a.m. ceremony.

The outstanding graduates are listed by college:

College of the Arts: Zac Wallace, a music major with a concentration in performance, who will also receive a bachelor’s degree in international relations. Wallace graduates with a 3.8 GPA and is a member of the university’s honors program. He is the son of Paul and Leesa Wallace of Shreveport.

B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration: Morgan Richard, a marketing major with a 3.89 GPA. She plans to work in her father’s business, pursue a master’s degree and eventually start her own business. She is the daughter of Kim and Larry Richard of New Iberia.

College of Education: Cory Etheredge, an exercise science major with a 4.0 GPA and member of the honors program. She plans to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in exercise physiology. Etheredge is the daughter of Jim Etheredge of Youngsville and Nona Istre of Lafayette.

College of Engineering: Kelly Colomb, a mechanical engineering major with a 3.5 GPA and an honors program member. Colomb plans to become a licensed professional engineer and obtain a master’s degree in business. She is the daughter of Lester and Tamara Colomb of New Iberia.

College of General Studies: Hannah Fabacher, a general studies major with a concentration in arts and humanities. Fabacher has a 3.905 GPA and plans to work at Acadiana Retina Consultants after graduation. She is the daughter of Robert Fabacher Jr. and Andrea Fabacher of Broussard.

College of Liberal Arts: Megan Roberts, a communicative disorders/speech pathology major with a minor in secondary education. Roberts has a 4.0 GPA. She plans to either pursue a master’s degree in communicative disorders or become certified to teach math.

Roberts is the daughter Belinda and Paul Roberts of Breaux Bridge.

College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions: Laykin McReynolds, a nursing major with a 3.929 GPA and honors program student. McReynolds plans to work as a registered nurse for a year and then pursue a master of science in nursing degree at UL-Lafayette to become a certified family nurse practitioner. She is the daughter of Frances Beaudoin and Harold McReynolds of Lake Charles.

Ray P. Authement College of Sciences: Daniel Gould, a chemistry major with a 4.0 GPA and honors program member. Gould plans to finish his UL Lafayette AmeriCorps service year in the spring of 2014 and possibly attend graduate school. He is the son of Judith Meriwether and Philip Gould, both of Lafayette.
