Read columnist and photographer Steven Forster’s coverage of New Orleans’ social events at The New Orleans Advocate.
Events featured in this edition:
• A Seat at the Table: The Galatoire Foundation hosted a “Drive to a Million” Christmas table auction at Galatoire’s Restaurant, benefitting Cafe Reconcile and the Idea Village. The auctions let customers reserve a table on the restaurant’s famed first floor the Fridays before Christmas and Mardi Gras, with proceeds aiding a worthy cause.
• And the Crowd Goes Wild: FundDat, a crowd-sourcing platform that raises money for New Orleans nonprofits and startups, partnered with RapJab and Lucky Player Vodka to host a party with a purpose at the Freret Street Publiq House. Donations went to FundDat’s featured projects, which include ESL classes, a youth orchestra, sustainable food supply and more.
• Patrons of the Arts: Artist Ti-Rock Moore’s new work was exhibited to the public for the first time on Decatur Street in the French Quarter. The conceptual art show was titled “Privilege Fatigue.”
