Franco Richardson, 38, 4573 Winnebago St., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on Monday on counts of molestation of a juvenile. The victim told police Richardson inappropriately touched her twice when she was 6 or 7 years old, according to the arrest warrant. She said she did not understand what was going on at the time and later was too scared to tell anyone, the warrant said. Deputies arrest man in domestic battery Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Sunday accused of throwing his ex-wife in a bathtub, wrapping a shower curtain around her head and threatening to drown her. Deputies booked Dewayne Joseph Anderson, 35, 5921 Byron St., Baton Rouge, into Parish Prison on counts of home invasion, stalking and domestic abuse battery. The victim told deputies Anderson was waiting for her under her carport when she got home, and when she opened the door, he forced his way into her home, the affidavit of probable cause says. The victim told deputies Anderson dragged her into the bathroom, shoved her into the tub, wrapped her head in the shower curtain and placed her head under running water, according to the affidavit. She struggled for about two minutes before she got away, the affidavit said. Police later found Anderson hiding under a bed at his girlfriend’s house, the affidavit said. He originally told police he went to the victim’s house but she was not there, the affidavit said. Later, he told deputies he argued with the victim and she pulled a knife on him, threatening to kill him, the affidavit said. Fifth man arrested in sexual assault of girl Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Port Allen man Monday, accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in November. Brandon Edwards, 26, 358 Tracy Porter St., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated rape. Four other men have been arrested in East and West Baton Rouge parishes in connection with the case, and an arrest warrant has been issued for one other person, Jessica Carr, 22, 21324 Orme St., Abita Springs, for aggravated rape. According to a warrant, Edwards raped the girl in June, then stood watch while another man raped the girl. Edwards was arrested Dec. 3 in Port Allen on counts of oral sexual battery and a count of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile later was added. Officials said they expect the number of people arrested in the case to grow as the investigation continues and the full extent of the girl’s exploitation becomes clear. Police arrest two in Family Dollar robbery Police arrested two people Monday after one of them snatched money out of the hand of a Family Dollar employee, then jumped into a silver Dodge Nitro driven by the other, police said. Emeka Uba, 38, 11350 Capital D Church St., Maringouin, and Vanetta Jackson, 30, 1137 America St., Baton Rouge, each were booked into Parish Prison on counts of simple robbery, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a Baton Rouge police spokesman. The robbery occurred at about 11:05 a.m. at the store at 13047 Government St., Coppola said. Uniform patrol officers noticed the Dodge on Winbourne Avenue and pulled it over, Coppola said. Officers found the stolen money inside the car, and “Uba and Jackson were then positively identified by Family Dollar employees,” Coppola said. Man robs Dollar General, shoots at BR officers Baton Rouge police are searching for the man who pulled a gun on a clerk at a Dollar General store Sunday afternoon and stole money from the cash register. The robbery occurred at about 6 p.m. Sunday at the store at 4755 Prescott Road, said Sgt. Mary Ann Godawa, a spokeswoman for the Police Department. After taking the money, the man fled on foot, Godawa said. The robber is described as a black man who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue pajama pants and a blue bandana, Godawa said. Police search for Jack in the Box robber Baton Rouge police are searching for the man who fired a shot at officers chasing him after he robbed a Jack in the Box restaurant early Monday, a police spokesman said. The robber pulled into the drive-thru lane of the restaurant at 2805 Scenic Highway at 3:05 a.m. in a gold Chevrolet Cavalier car and climbed into the building through the drive-through window, police Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. said. He demanded money from two employees and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the store, Coppola said. While driving away, police spotted his car and tried to pull him over, Coppola said. He drove about two miles with police in pursuit before crashing his car into a fence. He jumped out of the car, and while running from police, fired a single shot at the officers, Coppola said, adding that no one was injured. The robber is described as a black man between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a black and white striped hooded sweatshirt, a gray T-shirt and red hat, Coppola said. One arrested in parish on suspicion of DWI Authorities arrested at least one person suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked her into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Monday, booking records show.
