Health clinic soirée to honor benefactors

The Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic will honor supporters Dwight “Bo” and Geraldine Ramsay during its Silver Bell Soirée fundraiser Thursday.

The event, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Palmetto Club, 301 Heymann Blvd., is a celebration of the clinic’s 20 years of service.

Proceeds from the annual event support the clinic’s mission to provide free medical, dental and prescription services to the working uninsured in Lafayette Parish.

In 2012, the clinic provided more than $650,000 in medical, dental and laboratory services and provided prescriptions valued at $2.4 million.

The Ramsays helped the clinic become debt-free in 2007 when the couple offered to pay off the mortgage of the building inside the old St. Ann’s Infirmary, 1317 Jefferson St.

The couple are dedicated volunteers in the community, said Jeri Allison, the clinic’s executive director, in a news release.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to recognize the Ramsays’ contribution to all of Acadiana. They are tireless volunteers who make a significant difference in the quality of life of our community,” she said.

Tickets are $100 and may be reserved by calling: Elizabeth Rose at (337) 593-9208.
