Cheri Soileau, a former transit planner in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, is the new director of the university’s Office of Transportation Services. Soileau previously worked as a senior transit planner for the Denton County (Texas) Transportation Authority and planned and scheduled bus routes, including nine university shuttles for the University of North Texas and a commuter rail line with 3 million riders annually, according to a university news release. The new director plans more use of social media to communicate information to students and the community via two new Twitter hashtags: #GeauxPark and #GeauxBus and the office’s Facebook page: http://tinyurl.com/llr9ov3. “Students already have a lot on their plates. The last thing they — or our visitors — should have to worry about is where to park,” Soileau said in the news release. Soileau began working at the university July 22. A native of Missouri, Soileau holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
