SORRENTO — A pickup hit an 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 westbound early Monday, killing a Livingston Parish man and snarling morning traffic, Louisiana State Police said.
Troopers said the Chevrolet pickup’s driver, Daniel E. McMorris, 33, of Livingston, hit the right rear of a 2013 Volvo tractor-trailer about 5 a.m. Monday west of La. 22.
McMorris’ pickup was in the right lane of I-10 while the Volvo was in the left lane, troopers said in a news release Monday.
McMorris was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected in the crash and suffered fatal injuries, troopers said.
The driver of the Volvo, Elias Babin III, 50, of Laplace, was wearing his seat belt and was not injured, trooper said.
Neither driver is suspected of being impaired by drugs or alcohol, troopers said.
Editor’s note: This story was changed at 3 p.m. Monday to correct the make of the tractor-trailer.
