The city of New Orleans, along with Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and the Partnership for a Healthier America, will host the fourth annual “Play Streets” fitness day at Joe W. Brown Memorial park in New Orleans East from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The Play Streets Family Fitness Day, presented in conjunction with the Vietnamese American Young Leaders Association, is designed to encourage family-friendly physical activities.
Events will include a fun run, dodge ball, kick ball, soccer, skateboarding, flag football, basketball, free swimming lessons, yoga lessons, bounce houses, art projects and free health screenings.
Councilmember Guidry to hold Uptown town hall
District A council member Susan G. Guidry will hold a town hall meeting Monday at the Audubon Tea Room at 6500 Magazine St. The meeting, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., will be attended by city department officials and representatives from a variety of groups. Updates will be provided on ongoing work and questions and concerns of district residents will be addressed one-on-one. Photographs and documentation of any issues are highly encouraged.
