Arrest made in fatal apartment shooting

A suspect in the June 12 fatal shooting of Brandon Carter has been arrested.

Dorion Jenkins, 23, 6777 Rembrandt St., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, armed robbery and a fugitive warrant, prison records show.

Police officers patrolling an area known as “the cut,” near North Sherwood Forest and Florida boulevards, heard several gunshots and found Carter’s body face-down in front of an apartment complex at 2150 N. Sherwood Forest Blvd.

Arrested BR man claims self defense

A man arrested Friday on allegations he entered another man’s residence threw him against a wall twice, kicked him in the ribs and stomped on him claimed he acted in self defense.

Baton Rouge police booked Mark Elbert “Cowboy” Daniels, 56, 7535 Joor Road, Baton Rouge, into Parish Prison on counts of home invasion, prison records show.

The incident occurred on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. when Daniels allegedly opened the unlocked door, walked into the home and assaulted the victim, whom he had known for two years, the affidavit of probable cause says.

Man accused of raping student in her dorm

LSU campus police on Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old man accused of raping a student in her dorm room on LSU’s campus on Oct. 6.

Aaron Carrington Cade, 879 Belhaven Trace Drive, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of simple rape, prison records show.

The victim told police Cade forced himself on her, despite her pleas to stop and after the alleged assault slept in her bed next to her while she cried herself to sleep, the affidavit of probable cause says.

Police release details on fatal shooting

Baton Rouge police on Saturday released new details about the fatal shooting Friday of Elijah Stevenson in the 3800 block of Iroquois Street.

Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a police spokesman, said Stevenson, 21, 3821 Maywood St., was walking down Iroquois Street about 3:50 p.m. after leaving a dice game with another person when a man known only as “KJ” approached the pair from behind on a bicycle.

When Stevenson turned around, the suspect pulled a pistol from his pants and fired several shots at him, Coppola said.

Five arrested in EBR on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least five people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

Clifford Dixon, 47, 4915 Alvin Dark Drive, Baton Rouge, second-offense DWI and driver’s license suspended/revoked.

Melissa Fabre, 21, 5733 College Drive, Baton Rouge, third-offense DWI and improper turn.

Chance Rivere, 20, 139 Paul St., Pierre Part, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.

Leslie Savoie, 28, 19220 S. Lakeway Ave., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation and hit-and-run

Son Troung, 39, 6348 Crossgate Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, following too close and failure to maintain control.
