VILLE PLATTE — Authorities in Evangeline Parish are looking for a suspected killer who was seen in Lafayette and Carencro after he fled law enforcement.
Javier Chavez Gonzalez, 29, of Mexico, is considered armed and dangerous. He is wanted in the killing of Ezequiel Soto, 31, of Mamou, according to a statement from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Soto was shot Saturday on Reeton School Road south of Mamou and died later that night at Savoy Hospital, Sheriff’s Office Capt. Mike Perry said.
Investigators believe Gonzalez was seen over the weekend getting out of a car in the Interstate 49 corridor in Carencro. Gonzalez also was seen Sunday in Lafayette.
“If anybody sees Javier Chavez Gonzalez, do not approach,” Perry said.
Gonzalez sightings can be reported to local police or sheriff’s officials. Witnesses also can call Evangeline officials at (337) 363-2161, or the U.S. Marshals Office Violent Task Force at (337) 319-4086.
