Three shot to death in Orleans, Jefferson
Homicide detectives in Jefferson and Orleans parishes were investigating three separate killings, two on Tuesday and one Monday night.
One man was killed and another was wounded during a shooting about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 5900 block of Becker Street in Marrero, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
A woman called the Sheriff’s Office saying her nephew, Deshon Evans, 20, had been shot. Evans died from his wounds, said Glen Boyd, a sheriff’s spokesman.
The surviving victim was taken to Interim LSU Public Hospital in New Orleans to be treated. His condition was unknown.
In New Orleans, a man, 37, died after someone shot him about 7 a.m. near Music and North Villere streets, police said.
Officers responding to a report of a man being shot found the victim on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head, said Officer Garry Flot, a Police Department spokesman.
The victim, identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office as Chancellor Atlow, died at the scene.
Late Monday night, a man who was shot on the edge of Central City died from his wounds at Interim LSU Public Hospital.
The victim, whose identity was not known Tuesday, was shot about 7 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Louisiana Avenue, police said. He died about 11:20 p.m. from a gunshot wound to the chest, said John Gagliano, the coroner’s chief investigator.
Authorities have not released any information on a suspect or motive in any of the cases.
New Orleans East murder suspect ID’d
Authorities have identified a man shot to death Tuesday night in New Orleans East. Justin Mitchell, 22, was shot once in the back, said John Gagliano, the coroner’s chief investigator.
Police found Mitchell about 7 p.m. on the lawn of a home in the 4700 block of Stemway Drive, said Officer Hilal Williams, a Police Department spokeswoman. Mitchell died at the scene.
Police have not released any information on a suspect or motive.

Metairie, St. Bernard deaths unclassified
The deaths of four people found dead Monday in two homes in St. Bernard and Jefferson parishes remained unclassified Tuesday after autopsies found no signs of trauma.
Jessica Lange, 36, and Anthony Junda, 37, 218 Mandarin St., Metairie, were found dead Monday afternoon in their home, said Col. John Fortunato of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. The two were found by someone who went to check on them after they had not been heard from recently.
A St. Bernard Parish couple found dead in their home remained unidentified Tuesday.
A sitter for the married couple found the 74-year-old man and 71-year-old woman dead in their home about 8:15 a.m., the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
There were no signs of forced entry to the home, and no property was missing, Sheriff James Pohlmann said Monday.
The deaths of the four will remain unclassified pending toxicology results, officials said.
Police seek driver who hit bicyclist in CBD
Police are searching for a man who hit a bicyclist and drove away early Monday morning in the Central Business District.
A 34-year-old woman was on her bicycle when a man driving a light blue 2013 Toyota Camry ran a red light and struck her near Poydras and Tchoupitoulas streets, police said.
The man got out of the car for “a short time” before he drove away, police said. The woman was being treated Tuesday at a hospital.
The Camry has an Oregon license plate, number 128FFF. The car is registered to Lucy M. Hutcens, 77, and police would like to speak with her. Hutcens is not a suspect, police said.
