About 100 without power in Algiers and Mid-City About 100 without power in Algiers and Mid-City Advocate story Oct. 07, 2013 Comments Entergy New Orleans utility crews are working to restore electricity after power outages in Mid-City and Algiers left about 100 customers in the dark Saturday afternoon as some rain and wind from Tropical Storm Karen began to move ashore. The Algiers outage, affecting about 69 Entergy customers, occurred at about 2:49 p.m., according to the Entergy Storm Center website, which tracks outages across the region. Power went out for 23 households and businesses in a Mid-City neighborhood at about 3:26 p.m., according to the Entergy website. The public utility expects power to be restored by 5:30 p.m. in both locaitons. “A serviceman has been dispatched. Additional information will be provided when it becomes available,” reads the note on the Algiers outage on the Entergy website. “We apologize for this inconvenience.” Entergy’s comment on the Mid-City outage says: “Equipment on our utility pole has broken. Our crews are on site making repairs.” An Entergy New Orleans spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment about what caused the outages.
