The body of Kinya Keller, 30, was found inside the home in the 900 block of Lamarque Street about 4:25 p.m., said John Gagliano, the coroner’s chief investigator. Keller’s death has been ruled a homicide, Gagliano said. An officer who responded to a call about a woman’s body inside the home saw Keller on the floor unresponsive, said officer Hilal Williams, a Police Department spokeswoman. A window was broken and the front door had been forced open, according to police. Police have not identified a suspect in the killing. Suspect arrested in River Garden slaying New Orleans police on Thursday arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting last week in the River Garden neighborhood. Bruce Brown, 23, faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm, according to court records. Brown is accused of killing Leonard Preston, 26, wounding another man and firing at a third about 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 26 in the 500 block of Josephine Street. The shooting apparently stemmed from an argument Brown and another man were having with two men inside an apartment, according to court documents. Witnesses told police that Preston was standing in front of the apartment when two men rode up on what might have been a four-wheeler and fired several shots at him. According to court documents, however, Brown and another man were arguing with two other men inside the apartment. As the argument escalated, Brown and the other man began to fire into the apartment, apparently as they ran out the door. Preston was outside on the steps, according to court documents and neighbors who spoke to The New Orleans Advocate after the shooting. He was struck once and died a short time later at Interim LSU Public Hospital. One of the men inside the apartment was shot from behind, according to court documents. The other man was able to escape without being injured. The second gunman remained at large on Friday. Brown remained jailed with no bond set for his murder charge, according to court documents. Man raped at vacant Treme home, police say A 26-year-old man was raped early Thursday on the edge of Treme, police said. The sexual assault happened about 8 a.m. in an abandoned home in the 1100 block of St. Philip Street, according to a daily police log. Police did not provide any other information on the incident. Man stabbed in back on Hayne Boulevard About 9:40 a.m. Thursday, a man armed with knives walked up to a man who was sitting in the 9500 block of Hayne Boulevard in New Orleans East. The armed man asked the victim for money, to which the 48-year-old man replied, “Get a job,” according to a daily police log. The armed man took out his knives and stabbed the victim in the back, police said. Police did not provide a description of the assailant or information on the victim’s condition.
