The child ran home and told his mother, who stepped outside and watched as Tyrone Edward Beeson, 39, of Lafayette, fled in a burgundy Jeep Cherokee, according to an arrest affidavit for Beeson. Deputies later found Beeson nearby at WaWee’s Bar where patrons said he arrived drunk and had threatened them by swinging a pool stick, the affidavit said. The boy told deputies he was walking home from a friend’s house when Beeson stopped and asked him multiple times if he needed a ride, and the boy said no each time, the document said. When the man saw the child’s mother come outside, “he fled the scene at a high rate of speed,” the affidavit said. Customers at WaWees told deputies that “… Mr. Beeson entered the bar and was already intoxicated … (He) began to verbally argue with female bar patrons and call them explicit words. “Mr. Beeson then picked up a pool stick and began to swing the pool stick around until he fell to the floor,” the warrant said. Deputies also said Beeson told them that “when he gets out of the handcuffs, he will get all of his guns and shoot and kill deputies.” They also said that while being transported to jail Beeson slammed his head repeatedly into the window and security metal in the arresting deputy’s patrol unit. Beeson was booked on one count each of resisting an officer, disturbing the peace, threatening a public official, self-mutilation by a prisoner and attempted simple kidnapping. On Monday afternoon there was no bond amount listed for Beeson, who was being held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
