A strong band of rainstorms knocked out power Saturday morning for over 1,500 customers in the New Orleans area, according to officials with Entergy.
Most of the outages were fixed within hours. At 2 p.m, Entergy reported 350 customers without power and by 5 p.m. about 30 households were still in the dark.
The storm was the result of a slow-moving cold front, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a flash flood watch until Sunday morning.
A total of 1.53 inches of rain fell between 6 and 9 a.m. at New Orleans International Airport.
While most area power outages were due to the weather, a vehicle struck Entergy equipment in the 7th Ward knocking out power for nearby residents.
