FRENCH SETTLEMENT — A precautionary boil water advisory in French Settlement was lifted Friday morning, the French Settlement Water Co. said.
French Settlement was placed under the advisory Wednesday after a water main in the area cracked.
The advisory ended after a sample from the main did not show any bacteriological contaminants, the French Settlement Water Co. said in a news release.
A water main between two wells broke Wednesday, causing the wells to drain quickly and lose a high amount of pressure.
The crack also caused some French Settlement residents to lose water supply, said Billy Edrington, president of the French Settlement Water Co.
Boil advisories have to be issued when water pressure dips too low.
About 400 homes were affected, Edrington has said.
The advisory was the second issued in the French Settlement area within a month.
A separate boil advisory was issued Aug. 19 after a different water main cracked and caused a pressure drop.
That advisory was rescinded a few days later after a water sample showed no contamination.
