The first in a series of workshops promoting science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics disciplines for students and parents in the West End area of New Iberia begins Saturday.

The first workshop on computer generated art and animation is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the West End Park Community Center, 1200 Field St., for students in grades eight through 12.

Registration is required by Friday. Another workshop is planned on Oct. 5 on health and nutrition for parents and children, and registration is also required.

The workshops are organized in partnership with the Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise Center.

The Saturday workshop will be taught by working professionals who have volunteered their time for the outreach.
