SORRENTO — An armed Sorrento man was arrested Sunday evening after he barricaded himself in his mobile home and threatened Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies following an argument with a woman, deputies said Monday.
Wesley Bowden, 33, 44452 Braud Road, Lot 6, Sorrento, threatened to shoot deputies if they came near his home while they were surrounding the mobile home in the Sorrento Trailer Park, deputies said in a news release.
Near the end of the hour-long standoff, the sheriff’s Crisis Response Team members fired tear gas into the mobile home and Bowden left without firing a shot from the semi-automatic pistol he possessed, deputies said.
Bowden was booked into Ascension Parish Prison near Donaldsonville on Sunday with one count of resisting an officer, five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and being a fugitive from a law enforcement agency in Colorado, deputies said in a news release.
The woman, whose connection to Bowden was unclear Monday afternoon, had left the trailer as deputies arrived shortly after 5:20 p.m. Sunday, deputies said.
It’s not known what Bowden and the woman had argued about. No one else was in the mobile home during the standoff, deputies said.
