Railroad work to close part of La. 1 Railroad work to close part of La. 1 River Parishes bureau Sept. 07, 2013 Comments DONALDSONVILLE — La. 1 under the Union Pacific Railroad overpass near Bayou Lafourche will be closed for seven days over two weeks early next month, state highway and railroad officials said. Union Pacific is replacing railroad ties as part of standard maintenance on the overpass over the highway, also known as Bayou Road, Raquel Espinoza, railroad spokeswoman, said Wednesday. The road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Sept. 3 to Sept. 5 and again from Sept. 9 to Sept. 12, officials with the state Department of Transportation and Development said in a news release. Espinoza said the track crew works four days per week, 10 hours per day, so the closure was split over a two-week period. DOTD officials recommended the following detours: Southbound: Turn right on Lafourche Street, or La. 308, and right on La. 943 to La. 1. Northbound: Turn right on La. 943 and left on Lafourche to La. 3089, or Marchand Drive.
