N.O. coroner identifies Algiers homicide victim
A man shot and killed Friday afternoon in Algiers has been identified as Tillman Hawkins.
Hawkins, 33, who was shot about 4:15 p.m. in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive, died on the scene from his wounds, said John Gagliano, the Orleans Parish coroner’s chief investigator.
Police have not identified a suspect or motive, but investigators are looking for a white Nissan that was seen speeding away from the scene after the shooting.
A partial license plate number included N33, police said after the shooting.

Drive-by shooting wounds three on porch
Three men were wounded Saturday night when someone drove by and shot them as they sat on a porch of a Bayou St. John home. A car drove up to the home in the 2900 block of Dumaine Street about 7:40 p.m. and opened fire on the men, according to a police log.
One man was shot in the ankle, another was struck in his foot and shin, and the third victim was hit in his thigh. None of the injuries were serious.
Police have not released any information on a suspect or motive.
Man’s condition critical after shooting in N.O.
A man was in critical condition at a hospital Monday night following a shooting in New Orleans East, police said.
The shooting happened about 6:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of Stemway Drive, said Officer Frank Robertson, a New Orleans Police Department spokesman. The victim was shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital, Robertson said.
Police did not provide the victim’s name and age and no other information was immediately available late Monday.
Police investigate rape in New Orleans East
New Orleans police are investigating the a woman’s rape Friday afternoon in New Orleans East. A man raped the woman about 1:45 p.m. in the 4900 block of Palace Street, according to a daily police log.
Police did not provide a description of the man.
