Man sought in robbery of Gentilly restaurant
New Orleans police are searching for a man who they say stole $500 in cash from a Gentilly restaurant during an armed robbery early last week.
The robber walked into the store in the 4300 block of Chef Menteur Highway about 2:10 p.m. Aug. 19, pulled out a gun, pointed it at the cashier and demanded the money from the cash register, police said. The cashier put the money into a plastic bag the robber handed him.
The robber then ran out of the restaurant and headed east on Chef Menteur Highway, police said.
Police described the robber as being about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing between 135 and 145 pounds.
He wore a light-colored baseball cap and a white T-shirt, dark-colored shorts, and black and grey tennis shoes.
Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call 3rd District Detective Johnny Carter at (504) 658-6030 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
