Candidates qualify for Baton Rouge, Acadiana elections

The following candidates in the Baton Rouge and Acadiana areas qualified this week for various races on the Oct. 19 ballot, according to the Louisiana secretary of state’s website. The runoff election, if needed, is Nov. 16. Qualifying for the 5th District Congressional District race, also scheduled Oct. 19, will be held Monday through Wednesday at the Secretary of State’s Office in Baton Rouge. Candidates with no opponents are elected. Local candidates wishing to submit statements of candidacy to The Advocate must do so no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 30 by contacting the suburban and Acadiana bureau chiefs or Metro Editor Vicki Ferstel at vferstel@theadvocate.com.
