Suspect in Metairie shooting dies
Dondrell Cage Jr., 16, a suspect in a July 2 shooting in Metairie during which Bobby Bruer, 16, was killed, was pronounced dead Wednesday at University Hospital, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Col. John Fortunato.
Authorities said Cage was involved in an altercation with Bruer in the 2200 block of Giuffrias Avenue on Tuesday morning and that Cage was shot when a gun was being wrested away from him.
Authorities previously said the altercation started due to a dispute over a “blunt” — a cigar wrapper filled with marijuana — that occurred the evening before.
Breuer remained in critical condition at University Hospital Thursday.
