St. Tammany bureau July 04, 2013 Comments A teenage boy who recently moved to Slidell because his brother wanted to give him a better life ended up in the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center, charged with attempted second-degree murder in a machete attack on his brother’s friend. Slidell Police answered a call in the 1700 block of Lynnwood Drive on Thursday night and found the 31-year-old victim with a lacerated neck and the suspect standing in the street holding a 28-inch machete. He readily told police he had tried to kill the man, according to a news release. The two had argued for unknown reasons, police said, and the juvenile grabbed a machete and attacked the man from behind, chopping off his right ear lobe and narrowly missing his carotid artery. The 16-year-old previously lived in Los Angeles where he was allegedly part of the MS-13 gang, police said. His brother moved him to Slidell in hopes of improving his life. The victim was treated at a local hospital and is recovering from his injury.
