Woman arrested
in stabbing of ex

U.S. marshals arrested a Baton Rouge woman Friday who had been wanted in two stabbings of her ex-boyfriend.

Martina C. Gibson, 29, 427 Atkinson St., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

The first stabbing occurred about 2 a.m. April 22 at 2708 Main St. and caused minor injuries, police said. Gibson allegedly returned to the man’s home three days later and stabbed him multiple times in the chest, causing life-threatening injuries.

Women arrested
in theft at Wal-Mart

Baton Rouge police officers arrested two women Thursday accused of stealing more than $10,000 that was contained in money bags from a woman’s shopping cart at a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Baton Rouge.

Colby Heard, 23, and Mona Moore, 22, both of 10530 Florida Blvd., were booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

On June 23, two masked assailants entered the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, at 9380 Old Hammond Highway, and almost immediately walked up to a woman who had about $10,000 in money bags in a cart, the affidavit says.

After one robber, a man, produced a knife, the customer backed away, and the man and another woman, later identified as Heard, stole the cash and fled on foot, the affidavit says.

Investigators later determined through video surveillance that both robbers arrived in a car driven by Moore, the affidavit says. No additional information was available about the man wielding a knife.

child-porn charges

A 51-year-old man accused of downloading at least 25 files of child pornography over a five-year period was arrested Thursday by investigators of the state’s Attorney General’s Office.

Bruce Wagenstein, 51, of 6479 Northwest Groveland Terrace, Port St. Lucie, Fla., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of pornography involving juveniles, prison records show.

Wagenstein allegedly downloaded the files while on work-related trips during stays at hotels in Kenner, Houma and Morgan City beginning in 2008, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Four drivers booked
on EBR DWI counts

Authorities arrested at least four people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

Tyrone Addison, 42, 2971 Beech St., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of marijuana and insurance required.

Jessie Cotton, 72, 6345 S. Silverleaf Ave., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Shawn Murray, 33, 3528 Eaton St., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Eric Pitts, 44, 1052 Elscott Ave., Baton Rouge, third-offense DWI and possession of alcohol in the vehicle.
