Linda Hilbert was traveling southbound in the left lane of I-55 when her vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet HHR, began to veer left, causing her to overcorrect right, State Police said in a news release. The HHR then crossed both lanes of southbound traffic and plunged into a nearby ditch, eventually coming to rest on its side, the release says. Hilbert, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office, was wearing a seat belt, the release says. Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drug impairment in the crash and have not yet been able to determine what caused the wreck, the release says.
