Forum set to discuss charity hospital care

The future of charity hospital care in Acadiana is the focus of the Acadiana Press Club’s “June Newsmaker Forum” scheduled at 11:45 a.m. Monday at South Louisiana Community College, Ardoin Building Cafeteria, 1101 Bertrand Drive.

New University Hospital and Clinics CEO Jared Stark, Lafayette General Medical Center President and CEO David Callecod and LGMC’s Assistant Vice President of Network Development Paul Molbert will discuss the hospital’s operational takeover of the former University Medical Center.

The private hospital takes over management of the former UMC on June 24.

The hospital administrators will explain what the community can expect from the changes and how it will impact patient services and medical training.

The lunch forum and membership in the Acadiana Press Club are open to journalists, media professionals, public relations professionals, public information officers, communication professors and students, retired journalists, civic and political leaders and the general public.

Lunch cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers payable by cash or check only. Reservations must be submitted by Thursday to info@acadianapressclub.org.
