Raymond Adams, who was seriously injured in a March car accident, now faces criminal charges for the wreck on Transmitter Road in Lacombe. He was arrested at his Slidell home Tuesday night, booked with vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
Adams’ passenger, William Gaffney, 24, of Lacombe, was killed in the accident.
Deputies from the traffic division had Adams’ blood drawn while he was hospitalized and sent it to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The results showed that his blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit.
Evidence at the scene of the accident indicate Adams was traveling over 100 mph when he left the roadway, struck a culvert and became airborne, colliding with a tree, the sheriff’s office said.
