ST. AMANT — Three Ascension Parish residents were arrested and booked into parish prison after deputies discovered an alleged meth lab.
Narcotics deputies at the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office searched a residence on La. 936 on Friday, where they found two men and a woman in the presence of a methamphetamine lab, Maj. Kevin Hanna said in a news release.
In addition to the meth lab, deputies also found drug paraphernalia and a sawed-off shotgun in the residence at 9086 La. 936 in St. Amant.
Booked into the Ascension Parish Jail were Heath Trabeaux, 40, and Avice Sanchez, 32, both of 9086 La. 936, St. Amant, and Joseph Stonkus, 42, 40313 Jack Leblanc Road, Gonzales. All three were booked on counts of creation of a clandestine lab, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trabeaux also was booked with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possessing an unregistered or illegally transferred weapon and possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs.
Stonkus, meanwhile, was booked on a previous warrant for domestic abuse battery and simple assault, while Sanchez was booked on an active contempt of court warrant.
All three remained in the parish jail on Tuesday while awaiting bail.
