Rolfs launches
solo law firm in BR

Emile C. Rolfs III, a former partner at Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson LLP, has started The Law Office of Emile C. Rolfs III LLC in downtown Baton Rouge at One American Place.

The solo practice specializes in corporate, environmental law and business litigation, as well as personal injury and wrongful death claims.

In addition to his membership in the U.S. 5th Circuit, Louisiana State and Baton Rouge Bar associations, Rolfs is involved with the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Louisiana chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been appointed frequently by federal and state courts to serve as special master in complex litigation.

WTO set to begin exec speaker series

The World Trade Center of New Orleans starts its 2013 Executive Speaker Series with Michael G. Morris, non-executive chairman and former president and CEO of American Electric Power, at 9 a.m. Monday at the Westin New Orleans.

Morris served as president, CEO and chairman of the Ohio electric utilities company AEP from 2004 to 2011.

Upcoming series speakers are:

  • Manuel J. Perez De La Mesa, o f Mandeville, president of Pool Corp., the world’s largest wholesale distributor of swimming pool supplies, equipment and related leisure products. A summer date has not yet been set.
  • Don Hrap, president, Americas, ConocoPhillips, leading the development, operations and services related to the company’s exploration and production business in the Lower 48 region of the U.S. and in Latin America. He is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 3, at the Westin New Orleans.
