Woman killed in Wednesday crash on Old Hammond Highway Woman killed in Wednesday crash on Old Hammond Highway Advocate staff report| May 08, 2013 Comments An 85-year-old woman died Wednesday in a car crash in the 10000 block of Old Hammond Highway at St. Regis Drive, a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman said. Jeane Peters, of 10473 Lindsey Lane, St. Francisville, was killed in the 8:20 a.m. crash, Lt. Don Kelly said in a news release. Peters was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina east on Old Hammond Highway when she tried to turn left into the Runnymede townhome community, Kelly said. As she turned, Peters nearly collided with one westbound car that managed to avoid her, but then struck a westbound 2007 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Tenise Stewart, 21, of 5414 Satinwood Drive, Kelly said. Peters was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead, Kelly said. Stewart also was taken to a hospital for minor to moderate injuries. The investigation is continuing, Kelly said.
