Housing program taking applications

The Jefferson Parish Department of Community Development is accepting preliminary applications for its Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program.

Applications can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Marrero Community/Senior Center, 1861 Ames Blvd., and Friday at Jean Lafitte Town Hall, 2654 Jean Lafitte Blvd., Lafitte.

All applications must be returned to the Community Development Office by 4 p.m. Monday or to the Marrero Community/Senior Center by 4 p.m. Wednesday.

McDonogh Day location uncertain

The location of the 123rd annual John McDonogh Day will depend on whether it rains Friday, when the event is scheduled to take place at 9:45 a.m.

If it rains, the event will be held in the Lions Club Hall at 476 Franklin St., Gretna; otherwise, it will be held at the usual location, McDonoghville Cemetery, 520 Hancock St., Gretna.

The Lions Club hall is one block from the cemetery.
