Residents are invited to bring snacks and lawn chairs and enjoy the festivities, which will include music and dancing, a car show, old-fashioned games and participation by Baker students who have written essays and poems about Baker’s history. The post office was established to take advantage of mail delivery on the new railroad through the area. Budget hits Audubon Audubon State Historic Site on La. 965 in West Feliciana Parish is no longer open seven days a week because of limitations on the state Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism’s budget. The site will now be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Of the five state historic sites in the Felicianas, only Rosedown Plantation remains open seven days a week. Market, dedication Clinton’s First Saturday Community Market is 15 years old this month. More than 2,500 vendors have offered their merchandise to visitors since May 1998. Join the crowd Saturday morning for good food, shopping and fresh air. Keep East Feliciana Beautiful will dedicate a tribute stone to active members of the U.S. military and veterans at 10 a.m. outside the East Feliciana Parish courthouse in Clinton. Retired teachers program Retired East Feliciana Parish schoolteachers are invited to a reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 9 at the school system’s central office in Clinton. Garden tour Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site continues its “Garden Tour Fridays” series with a guided tour by horticulturist Patricia Aleshire, the park manager, at 10 a.m. Friday. The tour will begin at the site office. Wound Center moves Lane Regional Medical Center’s Wound Center and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has moved into its new location, 4917 West Park Drive, directly behind the Medical Mart Pharmacy on Lane’s campus, 6300 Main Street, Zachary. The center provides advanced therapies for most wounds, such as diabetic, nonhealing surgical, traumatic and infected wounds, as well as a variety of ulcers needing wound care. Free skin cancer screens A free skin cancer screening sponsored by Lane Regional Medical Center and Advanced Dermatology will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday at the office of Dr. Laurie Harrington, 20474 Old Scenic Highway, Zachary. David Vitter’s staff will meet with constituents from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Francisville Town Hall and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Slaughter Town Hall.
