  • BATON ROUGE AREA MILITARY OFFICERS ASSOC. OF AMERICA LUNCHEON: 11:30 a.m., Drusilla Seafood Restaurant, 3482 Drusilla Lane. LSU Interim Chancellor William L. Jenkins will speak. Members, spouses, widows, widowers, auxiliary members and guests are invited. (225) 766-4900.
  • SHOES FOR HOPE: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., LSU Parade Grounds, LSU campus. The Alpha Epsilon chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity will hold “Shoes for Hope” where participants will paint and decorate shoes with messages of hope and encouragement. The shoes will go to youth in underprivileged nations. In the event of rain, the event will move to BREC’s Alaska Street Park. Participants will get bottled water and healthy snacks during the event.
  • TURN OFF THE T.V. AND PLAY BINGO: 4 p.m., Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd. The whole family can play bingo. The game will have prizes. (225) 763-2260.
  • LSU SCIENCE CAFE: 5 p.m., Chelsea’s Cafe, 2857 Perkins Road. Ed Overton, professor emeritus of environmental science at LSU, will discuss the BP oil spill and its impact on Louisiana. Event also features networking, giveaways and free food. (225) 578-3870.
  • TUTORING: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Broadmoor Presbyterian Church’s Naylor Building, 9340 Florida Blvd. Qualified tutors provide free one-on-one tutoring for middle and high school students. Students and accompanying adults should arrive 10 minutes early to register. (225) 924-4271.
  • SCIENCE FICTION BOOK CLUB: 6:30 p.m., Greenwell Springs Regional Branch Library, 11300 Greenwell Springs Road. Members will discuss “Neuromancer” by William Gibson.
  • “SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN”: 7 p.m., Manship Theatre, Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St. The theatre will have an interactive viewing of the classic film with the Manship Student Advisory Board. Proceeds will benefit the David Paul Learning Center. (225) 389-7221.

  • OUTWORKS: A Festival of New LGBTQ Plays: 7:30 p.m., Studio Theatre in the LSU Music & Dramatic Arts Building, Dalrymple Drive, LSU campus.
