Journalists’ scholarship luncheon to benefit LSU, Southern students Journalists’ scholarship luncheon to benefit LSU, Southern students Advocate staff report April 11, 2013 Comments Fox Sports (Atlanta) reporter James Verret will be the keynote speaker at the Baton Rouge Area Association of Black Journalists' Scholarship Luncheon on April 18. The luncheon is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boudreaux's, 2647 Government St., according to a news release. The deadline to purchase individual tickets for $25 is Friday. Scholarships will benefit LSU and Southern University students majoring in mass communication/journalism. Verret is an alumnus of Southern and a former WAFB sports reporter and anchor. Several local journalists will be recognized at the event for their efforts.
