GRETNA — Police investigated a double shooting Thursday afternoon that left one man in critical condition at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.
Gretna police arrived at 2102 Hancock St., after receiving two calls about shots fired in the area of Chilo and Hancock streets to find one man shot in the head and another man shot in the shoulder, Deputy Chief Anthony Christiana said in a news release.
Police have not identified either victim, Christiana said.
Witnesses told police a man knocked on the front door, then began firing with a semi-automatic handgun when one of the victims opened the door, Christiana said.
The first victim shut the door, but the shooter continued firing through the door, hitting the second the victim, Christiana said.
