McCormick Feb. 27, 2013 Comments The Community Sisterhood and River Road African American Museum is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech with a screening of a film on the civil rights movement. “Mighty Times: The Children’s March” will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday at the Geismar Community Center, 12060 La. 73. The film tells the story of how the young people of Birmingham, Ala., braved fire hoses and police dogs in 1963 to bring an end to segregation, Community Sisterhood spokeswoman Rochelle Darville said in a news release. Their heroism complements discussions about the ability of today’s young people to be catalysts for positive social change, she said.
