Motorcyclist killed early Saturday Motorcyclist killed early Saturday Advocate staff report Jan. 28, 2013 Comments An Amite man died early Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a car pulling out of a private driveway on Scotland Avenue in Baton Rouge, a Police Department spokesman said Saturday night. Edward James Poole, 31, 929 Shiloh Baptist Church Road, was headed north on Scotland when a 1972 Oldsmobile Delta 88 driven by Lendell W. Williams, 39, 8820 Greenwell Springs Road, backed out of a private driveway and into the oncoming motorcycle’s path, spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said in a news release. Poole, ejected from the motorcycle, sustained fatal injuries, Stubbs said. Emergency Medical Services personnel pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene, police Capt. Elton Brown Sr. said in a news release. Officers were called about 4:10 a.m. Saturday to the 12100 block of Scotland Avenue, Brown said. Alcohol may be a factor in the crash and the investigation remains under way, Stubbs said.
