La. vets home emptied briefly for bomb threat La. vets home emptied briefly for bomb threat Baker-Zachary bureau Jan. 27, 2013 Comments JACKSON — The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bomb threat that briefly emptied the Louisiana War Veterans Home on Friday morning, a spokesman for Sheriff Talmadge Bunch said. Detective Don McKey said a caller told a staff member at 10:45 a.m. that “the bathrooms needed to be checked because there is bomb in one of them.” Responding East Feliciana deputies put out a parishwide call for volunteer firefighters to help evacuate the La. 10 nursing home’s residents, McKey said. “We had a good response, and with the volunteers, Acadian Ambulance and others, we got everybody out,” he said. Searchers found nothing suspicious in the building, and the residents were cleared to return inside by about noon, McKey said. The home has 161 beds, according to the state Department of Veterans Affairs website.
