LAFAYETTE — A man suspected of driving drunk and causing a collision that killed a 2-year-old last week has surrendered to authorities, Lafayette police said.
Jamuse Broussard, 23, of Lafayette, has been booked on a count of vehicular homicide in the Jan. 16 crash in which Kylan Jackson was severely injured, according to a news release from the police department.
Kylan died from his injuries in a Baton Rouge hospital on Jan. 17, police said.
Police said Broussard was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe north on Moss Street at 10:50 p.m. Jan. 16 when he tried to turn left onto Van Buren Drive, hitting the southbound GMC Sierra in which Kylan was a passenger.
Broussard surrendered to authorities at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on Tuesday, police said.
Broussard also has been booked with OWI, driving under suspension, and failure to yield while turning left, police said.
Police said Broussard also faces a vehicular negligent injury charge in the injuries sustained by a 33-year-old Lafayette man who was driving the GMC Sierra.
Police have not released the name of the injured man, nor have they said whether he was related to Kylan.
