La. earns A in business survey

Louisiana received an A in a study that shows CEOs the best states for opening a new business or expanding an existing one, according to an article on Forbes.com.

The study by Thumbtack and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation says one of Louisiana’s most business-friendly characteristics is zoning.

The study graded states A-to-F on items including ease of starting a business, hiring costs, health and safety regulations, tax code and licensing, environmental regulations and the state’s current economic health. The study contacted 7,000 business owners and received 6,022 full responses.

Texas, Utah and Idaho topped the list with A+ ratings.

California, Vermont, Rhode Island and Hawaii received Fs for issues with the tax code, zoning, regulations and hostility to small business, respectively.
