Krotz Springs man dies in Pointe Coupee crash

MORGANZA — A 45-year-old Krotz Springs man died Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on La. 10 east of La. 77 in Pointe Coupee Parish, a State Police spokesman said.

James Thomas Webre was driving a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro east on La. 10 around 6:30 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle ran off the roadway and hit a tree, Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release.

Webre, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sandifer said.

Troopers investigating the incident were uncertain whether impairment was a factor in the crash, but a toxicology sample was submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, Sandifer said.
