Seismic testing in Walker area causing noises, vibrations

Seismic testing for oil and gas deposits is under way south of Interstate 12 between Juban Road and South Satsuma Road in Livingston Parish, the Walker Police Department said Thursday in a news release.

Regulatory authorities have approved the exploratory testing, which is expected to continue for a week to 10 days, the news release says.

The Police Department has received numerous calls from people in the area reporting loud noises, ground vibrations and cables crossing roadways, the release says.

The Police Department offered no further details.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard confirmed his office also had received complaints from the public about the noises and vibrations.
