N.O. police investigate Tuesday stabbing death of elderly man

New Orleans police Tuesday night were investigating the fatal stabbing of an 83-year-old man inside his senior living apartment in the 3600 block of Tulane Avenue, a police spokesman said.

The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, was found by a security guard at about 7 p.m. He had been stabbed multiple times and died on the scene, Officer Garry Flot said in a news release.

The security officer found the man after a family member knocked on the man’s door and received no answer, the release says.

The Coroner’s Office is investigating the exact time and cause of death, the release says.
