DUTCHTOWN — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office once again is looking to the public to help track down some Christmas vandals.
Sheriff Jeff Wiley said he is seeking the identity of one or more people who destroyed Christmas decorations in the Moss Pointe subdivision on Dec. 12 by running over them with a vehicle.
A homeowner in the subdivision, which is along La. 74 near Dutchtown High School, reported approximately $400 in damage, while a neighbor’s home-surveillance system caught the vehicle causing the damage.
Wiley described the vehicle as a dark-colored Ford Explorer, ranging between the years 2002 to 2010, with light-toned ground and fender flares. The vehicle also was seen driving through the neighboring Legacy Hills subdivision prior to damaging the Moss Pointe decorations.
Three teenagers were arrested on Dec. 14 in connection with a similar Christmas vandalism incident in the Old Dutchtown subdivision, where Christmas decorations at 18 residences were damaged. One home’s $35,000 display was destroyed.
Anyone with information concerning the vandalism is asked to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-4636 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
