Residents’  Cox email restored

Cox Communications’ residential email, which went down over the weekend, was restored Monday morning, Cox Communications spokeswoman Sharon Bethea said in a news release.

All customers should now be able to send and receive email messages, Bethea said.

Cox queued emails received since Friday and customers may continue to receive these queued emails in the next several days. These will arrive gradually and may not be delivered in chronological order, Bethea said.

Bethea said Cox is replacing email storage platform equipment and implementing measures to prevent a reoccurrence of these issues.

“We will remain intensely focused on this effort until all queued email messages are successfully delivered. Technical teams continue to be on high alert and monitoring systems closely,” Bethea said. “We deeply regret the impact this outage has had on our customers and truly appreciate their patience as all Cox resources continue to be focused on this restoration effort.”

I wonder if Cox is going to pro rate their bills to give customers credit for the days that they had no service? I got my bill yesterday and it was for the full amount...maybe they will give us credit on the next bill...but don't hold your breath.

You are both right, but a 3 day outage is excessive. Most outages with other services have been in the hours or maybe a day, but very few if any last this long. I understand the backup system was affected, but that shows that the appropriate plan and/or system was not in place to handle such a massive failure of the main system. Bottom line..... they should have done better.

I've been using Cox for all of my personal email needs and they've been exceptionally reliable the entire time I've had an account with them, more so than Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! mail. As a geek, I'm much more likely to trust my I.S.P. email than those other three.

I have used Cox for well over 15 years for my personal email needs and use my personal email account for my business needs - WHICH ARE SIGNIFICANT, for the last 13+ years. This is the FIRST time in all those years my email has been down with them for any significant time. AND I SHOULD KNOW!!! They regularly posted updates on the Cox.com website as the issue. Some people just have a need to "hyperventilate" some times. CHILL!!!
