Man shot to death on Broad Street

Homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting Tuesday of 57-year-old Donald Collins, who was found by a friend in the common area of an apartment complex in the 1000 block of North Broad Street just before 11 a.m.

Homicide Detective Gregory Hamilton is in charge of the investigation.

Shooting kills man in Hollygrove

A 28-year-old local man was killed in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Hollygrove in the 8900 block of Olive Street.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family.

The shooting happened at approximately 2:15 p.m. The man was shot multiple times and died on the scene, police said.

Shooting victim’s condition critical

A 28-year-old man was shot in the chest inside a house in the 8800 block of Hickory on Tuesday afternoon, according to police, and both the victim and the alleged shooter were taken to the hospital.

The 28-year-old victim was in critical condition. The suspect in the shooting, 19-year-old Terence Hampton, was treated for a minor injury that police say he received. Police said that Hampton will be booked with attempted murder after he is released from the hospital.

during burglary

A man was shot during an aggravated burglary at Dwyer Road and Wilson Avenue at 7:34 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the hand. No other information was available.
