Police say teen shot in robbery attempt

Baton Rouge police Tuesday night arrested two teenagers accused of trying to rob a man on North Acadian Thruway West before the man shot one of them.

A 40-year-old man was filling his car with gas in the 2400 block of North Acadian Thruway West at 9:15 p.m. when a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy walked up and demanded his money, police Lt. Don Kelly said in a news release.

The man grabbed a gun from the 17-year-old and fought for control, Kelly said.

The man managed to grab a gun inside his own car and shoot the 17-year-old in the stomach, Kelly said.

Both teenagers ran to a friend’s house in the 3200 block of Duke Street, Kelly said. A resident there called police, and both teens were taken into custody, Kelly said.

The 17-year-old is being treated at a hospital and will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of attempted armed robbery when released, Kelly said.

The 16-year-old was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on a count of attempted armed robbery.

Two suspects held
in holdup of store

Baton Rouge police Tuesday arrested two men accused of robbing a West State Street store at gunpoint.

At 11 p.m., two masked men armed with a shotgun and handgun entered the Hi-Life Wonderland store at 185 W. State St. and robbed the store of cash and undisclosed property before leaving in a white Acura, police Lt. Don Kelly said in a news release.

Officers later stopped the vehicle in the 5900 block of Airline Highway where they arrested the men and seized evidence from the car, Kelly said.

Darren Douglas Brown, 19, 8023 Greenwell Springs Road, and Christian Rashad Lamotte, 22, 5235 Loring Drive, were both booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery.

Two men arrested
in armed robberies

Baton Rouge police early Wednesday arrested two men accused of robbing people at gunpoint on East Boyd Drive and Highland Road.

At 11:42 p.m. Tuesday, two gunmen robbed a man in the 400 block of East Boyd Drive and fled in a white car, police Lt. Don Kelly said in a news release.

At 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, another man was robbed in the 5100 block of Highland Road by two men matching the same description as the East Boyd robbers and got the white car’s license plate number, Kelly said.

Officers chased the vehicle through north Baton Rouge for about 15 minutes and the suspects abandoned it in the 3600 block of Lone Oak Drive, but two police dogs caught them, Kelly said.

Deshawn Lollis, 18, 2786 N. Lark St., and Rodney Washington, 25, 2774 75th Ave., were treated at a hospital for dog bites and then booked into Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, aggravated flight from an officer and resisting an officer.

Truck driver accused
of assaulting woman

A 48-year-old Florida truck driver accused of sexually assaulting a hitchhiker Tuesday has been arrested, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Eddie Pullin, 4926 Avriett Drive, Marianna, Fla., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with sexual battery, Parish Prison records show.

The victim and her boyfriend were headed to Montgomery, Ala., but stayed with Pullin because of the weather, the affidavit says.

The victim told deputies that she was sleeping in the truck in Baton Rouge while her boyfriend was outside walking their dogs. She said Pullin put his hand in her underwear, the affidavit says.

Pullin denied touching the victim and said the hitchhiking couple threatened to call the authorities and accuse him of rape if he didn’t give them money, the affidavit says.

Man, 31, booked
with underage sex

Baton Rouge police Wednesday arrested a 31-year-old man accused of having sex with an underage girl three times between December 2008 and December 2010, an affidavit warrant says.

Christopher Jermaine Bell, 2652 Georgia St., Baton Rouge, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on three counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, Parish Prison records show.

According to the warrant, Bell had sex with the girl once when she was 15 and twice when she was 16.

5 booked with DWI
in EBR Parish Prison

Authorities arrested at least five people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

Van Galjour, 21, 2222 Carondelet St., New Orleans, first-offense DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Brock Guarino, 20, 2273 E. Michael Square Drive, Lake Charles, first-offense DWI.

Andrew Kimble, 25, 8251 N. Harts Mill Lane, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Samuel Pailet, 21, 3912 Ney Rey Drive, Metairie, first-offense DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Chris Williamston, 45, 5625 Clayton Court, Baton Rouge, second-offense DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.
