An East Baton Rouge Parish jury found Jonathan Dewayne York guilty of second-degree murder and possession of an illegal firearm by a convicted felon. York was found guilty in the April 1, 2011, killing of Shantell Johnese, 37, of Port Hudson. Police said York, who lived in the 2400 block of Valley Street, shot Johnese as she stood in front of a home in the 2200 block of Valley. York faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison on the second-degree murder conviction. State District Judge Mike Erwin ordered York held without bond until his sentencing.
