Terms of the deal, which became final earlier this month, were not disclosed. The company initially indicated the Cohn Turner name would only remain for the time being, but later said plans for the branding of the Jefferson Highway store aren’t settled. “In terms of the name, next steps are still being determined. As soon as we know, we will make an announcement,” President David Perlis said in an email. The company said the acquisition is part of its strategy to expand its geographic reach while maintaining its traditions of service and long-term relationships with customers. “We are thrilled to expand our regional footprint by building on the excellent foundation Cohn Turner has established in Baton Rouge over many years,” Perlis’ president said in a news release. “We are committed to serving Cohn Turner’s existing loyal customer base and continuing to meet their expectations concerning the quality of merchandise offered in fashion, business and formal attire. Our intent is to provide a broader range of clothing in the realms of dress casual and sportswear, as well as an expanded choice of lifestyle accessories.” Perlis said the company is planning to integrate Cohn Turner’s business “with no disruptions to existing customers, suppliers, partners or other Cohn Turner stakeholders.” “Baton Rouge has been our home for generations, and we are proud to be able to continue serving our customers through the Perlis brand,” said Ed Bernstein, general manager of Cohn Turner. “The phase-in of the Perlis brand will take place gradually, so we foresee this process as being a smooth one — most importantly for our valued customers.” Perlis Clothing was founded in New Orleans 75 years ago and has three retail locations there and an e-commerce business.
