Maringouin man dies in single-car accident on I-10 Maringouin man dies in single-car accident on I-10 Advocate staff report Nov. 23, 2012 Comments PORT ALLEN — A 29-year-old Maringouin man died during an early morning, single-car accident Wednesday on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge Parish, according to a news release from State Police. Excessive speed is suspected of contributing to the accident about 1 a.m. near the Iberville Parish line, according to police. The initial investigation shows that Reginald D. Head was driving a 2004 Lincoln Town Car westbound in the left lane on I-10. Head’s car left the road to the left and Head over corrected while trying to get the car back on the road, the release says. Head lost control of the car, which began to spin on the roadway, the release says. The car went across both lanes of I-10 westbound and into a wooded area where the car hit a tree on the driver’s side. Although Head was wearing his seatbelt, State Police said he was partially ejected from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene. Alcohol use is unknown at this time. Troopers submitted a toxicology sample to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
